My DMs are always full of beauty questions, so I wanted to take some time to answer them for you all here. Have a question you want answered? Send a message to @jonesroadbeauty.
How should I apply blush so it looks natural?
The best way to apply blush is on the apple of the cheek. Smile and apply with a big round brush, blending up into the hairline and down so it's all blended. If you’re using a cream or gel blush, or something like Miracle Balm (Dusty Rose is great as a blush) you can apply using your fingers.
You want to choose a color that matches the natural flush of your cheeks. It makes it really seamless. If you’re looking to add brightness, put a pop of a brighter color on top.
What order should I put on my skincare and makeup?
Start with any spot treatments or serums, then layer on moisturizer and finish with SPF. Then comes your makeup. Foundation and concealer can be used in either order. The Face Pencils are great because they are your foundation and your concealer and you can use a brush or apply directly with your fingers. Next, brows, eyeshadow, and then liner. Add mascara after shadow to avoid any eyeshadow falling onto the lashes. End with your lips, always.
What’s the best way to cover a blemish?
First things first: don’t pick it!
When it comes to covering up a blemish, you never want to use an under eye concealer. Since under eye concealer is one shade lighter than your skin tone, it will only highlight what you want to hide.
Instead, choose a face product (like Face Pencils) that matches your skin tone to cover any imperfections or redness. The pencils make it really easy to get precise coverage. You can apply directly to redness and blend with your fingers. If your skin is oily, you can set everything with a skin-tone correct powder at the end.
