Talking with Miki Agrawal

Written by: Alexandra Perron, Managing Editor

When it comes to innovating the wellness space, Miki Agrawal is one to watch. As the co-founder of THINX, a line of “period-proof” underwear that can be worn in place of pads or tampons, she worked to disrupt the feminine hygiene industry while providing resources and access to education around reproductive health around the world. (Agrawal stepped down from the company in 2017.) Today, she’s working on TUSHY, an affordable, modern bidet attachment that is upgrading American bathrooms. Here she talks toilet paper, inspirations and her cuprrrodenuct t obsession.

Big Break:

9/11 was my big break — meaning I got to break free from conditioned thinking and realized that I needed to get after my dreams because life is so fleeting. I was supposed to be under 2 World Trade on 9/11, but never got there.

Currently Working On:

TUSHY. We’re looking to revolutionize the way Americans poop and save 15 million trees from getting flushed down the toilet unnecessarily. Wiping your butt with dry paper is from the days of old (literally from the 1800s)! Would you jump in the shower and not turn the water on and only use dry paper to wipe your bits down and call that clean? Hopefully NO. It’s time to upgrade yourself to the 21st century with an affordable, modern, sexy bidet attachment called TUSHY.

Inspiration:

My mama and daddy who came to America from Japan and India, respectively, and made it all happen without much resources.

Mantra:

Iteration is perfection.

Wellness Philosophy:

Sweat every day.

Fuel:

Lots of berries and nuts and gluten-free pizza from my restaurant Wild.

Beauty From The Inside Out:

I get massaged for 90 minutes every week by an incredible singing masseuse who feels where the blocked energy is and focuses on those areas.

Product Obsession:

Coconut oil. (And can I say TUSHY? I'm actually serious, I can't live without it.)

Goals:

To live to my full potential while helping as many people as I can.
