With summer coming to an end, it’s time to hit reset on your routine. Here are a few of my tips for looking and feeling your best this fall.
Don’t Ditch Your SPF
You might not be soaking up the sun at the beach, but SPF is still an essential part of your daily routine. I’m a huge fan of Supergoop!, with so many formula options, it makes wearing sunscreen everyday easy.
Make a Sleep Routine
How you unwind at the end of the day is just as important as how you start your day. Try setting a time to put your phone away every evening (that endless scroll before bed isn’t doing you any favors), make yourself a soothing drink or pop a Chill Gummy, and spend a few minutes meditating before you hit the sheets.
Keep Your Glow Going
Tans may fade, but your glow doesn’t have to. My secret recipe? Beauty Collagen in my morning coffee and a little bit of highlighter on the cheekbones.
Eat Seasonal Veggies
Head to the farmer’s market and stock up on seasonal veggies like apples, kale, beets, squash, and Brussels sprouts. Use them for salads, smoothies or an afternoon snack. If you’re going the salad route, this story from Lauren Slayton of Foodtrainers is a must-read.
Exfoliate & Moisturize
As temps drop, moisture gets zapped from our skin and it becomes even more important to keep your skin hydrated. I like to use a homemade exfoliator made with one part brown sugar and two parts olive oil. Apply it to your body before a shower, then rinse off. Your skin will be so hydrated you won’t have to apply moisturizer afterward.
Move Your Body
Make sure your post-summer routine includes time to sweat and move your body. There are so many great apps and videos that make it easy to get in a quick workout every single day. Start with these videos from my trainer Krystal Weisberg:
3-Minute Workout for Toned Arms
The Best 5-Minute Squat Workout
Take Five
Now more than ever, it’s so important to take a few minutes out of every day to breath deeply and reflect. You can try using a guided meditation app or just set a reminder in your calendar for the same time every day. You’ll be amazed at what a difference it makes.
And don’t forget to wear a mask and wash your hands!
