Bobbi’s Beauty, Wellness & Life Advice for the New Year

Written by: Bobbi

Happy New Year! It doesn't have to be all about making huge changes at the beginning of the year — even the small things make a difference. Here's my advice for making the most out of 2022.

Eat the Rainbow

Aim to fill your plate with fruits, veggies, hearty grains, protein, and healthy fats whenever possible. The more colorful the better. And if you’re in a pinch, throw together a smoothie — I love this guide from Chef Carla Contreras.

Put Your Skin First

If you want your makeup to look flawless, you need to take care of your skin first. This means washing your face (yes, even if you get home at 2AM), drinking lots of water, and finding a skin care routine that works for you.

Be Strategic

When it comes to foundation, I’ve always believed that less is more. You don’t need to apply it everywhere on the face, just in the places you really need it. Pay attention to redness around the mouth and nose, blemishes, and dark circles.

Drink Up

You didn’t think I’d skip this one, did you? Drink water. It’s simple, easy, and will make a huge difference in how you look and feel. Keep a water bottle at your desk to make it easier.

Embrace Eye Cream

The under eye area is super delicate, so treat it with care. My rule is never apply under eye concealer without first using an eye cream. I know I’m biased, but the Jones Road Eye Cream is a game changer.

Keep Moving

I know it gets harder to get outside and walk come winter, but it’s so important to keep your body moving (and sweating). Try an online class, download a yoga app, or just bundle up and head outdoors—the endorphin rush is worth it!

Find Your Perfect Lip Color

Looking for your perfect lip color? Don’t be afraid of a little DIY. I love to mix and match shades and create something custom. If you have pale skin, aim for a bright pink or a blue-red. On warmer skin tones, orange-reds tend to look best. Deeper skin tones should look for a brown-red or deep purple.

Stay Connected

If there’s one thing that helped me get through these last two years, it was connecting with loved ones. Pick up the phone and call your friend while you’re out on a walk. Send a text and let someone know you’re thinking about them. Make time for these moments as much as you can.

Don’t Forget Your Brows

As we get older, our brows tend to fade in color and volume. Give them a little oomph with The Brow Pencil. Our pencils add color along with tiny, hairlike fibers for dimension and fullness. Just make sure you match your natural brow color. Oh, and don’t forget to keep them groomed. I rely on Tweezerman tools to keep my brows looking their best.

Learn Something New

Put your brain to work and dedicate time to learning a new skill, trying out a new recipe, or picking up a new hobby. If you need some inspiration, check out the offerings on MasterClass.
