The Best Beauty Products of 2019
Written by: Alexandra Perron, Managing Editor
Every year I end up trying dozens of beauty products. Some are sent to me, while others I discovered on my own, and it’s honestly one of my favorite parts of my job. I love seeing what’s new, what’s working, and what the best new ingredients are. This year was no exception, I tried a lot of products in 2019. Below are the ones I’m still using, that I’ve bought again (and again), and that I’ll be bringing with me into 2020.
Supergoop Shimmershade Eyeshadow
I am not an eyeshadow person. I never have been. Before Shimmershade came into my life, I don’t even know if I had a single one in my makeup bag. But this one changed everything. Sheer but buildable, just the right amount of shimmer, and SPF 30. Today, I am totally an eyeshadow person.
BeautyStat Universal C Skin Refiner
I recommend this vitamin C product to everyone. It’s gentle yet effective, and the patented delivery system means you don’t have to worry about the product going bad before you’re done with your bottle. I was hooked before I even finished my first order, and since this product has a history of selling out, I promptly ordered two more to take me into next year.
Glossier Futuredew
When the brand launched Futuredew in October, I placed an order on the first day. Part skincare, part makeup, this dewy serum leaves behind that glow, you know the one. Sometimes I’ll wear it under my foundation, other days I gently pat it on cheekbones and the bridge of my nose. It’s quickly become a daily essential.
Hourglass Arch Brow Volumizing Fiber Gel
I'm about to say something pretty controversial: I like this brow gel more than Boy Brow. Yep. That's right. I purchased it ahead of my wedding and handed it to my makeup artist when it came time to do my brows. The formula is great (it’s packed with microfibers to add thickness to your brows) and the brush is even better (dual-sided so you can really whip your arches into shape).
Ritual Essential for Women
I joined the Ritual club back in April. I figured I was long overdue for a multi-vitamin in my life and I was sold on Ritual’s convenience. A bottle shows up at my door every month and all I have to do is remember to take them. With nine essential nutrients, I’m giving my body what it needs every single day.
Necessaire The Body Exfoliator
Necessaire knows how to treat the body well. Everytime I step into my shower with this exfoliator feels like a spa day. My skin feels silky smooth and all those rough, dry spots are gone. My husband is a fan too.
The Nue Co. Functional Fragrance
I know this product isn’t new for 2019, but 2019 is the year I got hooked on it. Formulated to help reduce stress (yes, really) this clean, spicy and woody scent just makes me feel good. The last time I loved a fragrance this much is when I bathed myself in Chanel Chance in high school. I consider this an upgrade.
Starface HydroStars
I officially declare 2019 the year of the zit sticker. I’ve tried a lot of them, but Starface is at the top of my list. Yes, the branding and packaging is perfect, but the product really works. Just stick a star on your blemish, hit the sheets and wake up to clearer skin.
Then I Met You Living Cleansing Balm
I’ve never met an oil cleanser I didn’t like, but I hadn’t met one I really loved until Then I Met You. With a blend of lightweight oils plus rosemary, persimmon and grapefruit, this is a true treat for the skin. The fact that it looks like a delicious sorbet doesn’t hurt either.
