Holiday Beauty: Your Jewelry as Makeup

I have always used jewelry the same way people use makeup. Of course diamonds are a girl's best friend because they make everything sparkle. The color of a stone can do wonders to bring out the blue or green in someone’s eyes. Just look at Elizabeth Taylor. There are many pictures of her wearing large dangling emerald stones that brought out her violet eyes.

I love wearing navy rhinestone earrings to bring out deeper blue eyes. Gold jewelry is always beautiful on any dark skin tone and adds a bronzy depth. White pearls can be used to enhance skin’s luminosity and pink pearls are a great complement to blush on the cheeks.

I also use a styling trick from early J.Crew campaigns and Jenna Lyons’ styling and pair very large rhinestone earrings with a simple black sweater, distressed jeans, and pumps. This look is amazing for a day to night outfit. Just throw the shoes and a pair of chandelier earrings in your bag in the morning and you can actually attend any holiday party without having to go home to change.
