Hair Obsessions: Bobbi Brown's Love Letter to Olaplex

I have been obsessed with my hair since the seventh grade. Back then, it wasn’t thin, it wasn’t super thick, it wasn’t curly, it just did its own thing — and it would drive me crazy. My hair was really long, parted in the middle and dark. I never learned how to blow dry my hair, but what I did do religiously in the seventh and eighth grade, was straighten my hair with orange juice cans. They were open from either end and I would sleep on them because I wanted Cher hair.
Looking back, I can say that it was one of my best features, but back then I never thought it was good enough and I never knew exactly what to do with it.
Fast forward to today — I’m 62 years old and my hair is still parted in the middle and its dark. It is sometimes straight, sometimes curly. It’s way different than it used to be. Unfortunately, it is way thinner. That is partly because of my white hair (my hair is 98% if not 100% white — I’ve been coloring my hair since I was 25), and it has a thinner follicle. When I do color my hair (and I will continue to do so) — I drive my colorist crazy because I don’t want it black and I don’t want it red, I really want this mahogany-chocolate brown. And to get that, I have it done every two weeks. (When I'm in a bind or have to go longer between appointments, Color Wow Root Cover Up is a life saver.)
What I’ve learned is simple: the better you take care of your hair, the better your hair looks. I take hair vitamins and make sure my diet is rich in healthy fats, but I have also discovered a real hair savoir — Olaplex.
I found it at a little salon in Telluride, Colorado. It completely transformed my hair. Olaplex works on the molecular level to repair broken bonds in hair that come from chemical and thermal damage. The treatments work to repair damage and strengthen hair from the root to the tip. I now order it online (it isn’t cheap!) and at least once a week I use the No.3 Hair Perfector. I also love the Bond Maintenance Shampoo and Conditioner. I use these along with the Cowshed Shampoo and Conditioner — the smells are amazing and the formulas a great. This combination of products has saved my hair.
When it comes to hair, my advice is to figure out what works for your hair and do it.
