To match or not to mach? It can be easy to get carried away when going for a monochromatic beauty look, but when it’s done right, it can look really cool and fresh. It’s all about staying within the same tone range across your lips, cheeks and eyes. Here are a few of my tips for getting it right.
Start Simple
When you’re just getting started, you don’t have to match everything. For example, try a pink cheek with a bright pink lip, or a nude lip with a nude eye and cheek. Or just try matching your lipstick and your nail polish.
Find Your Colors
Even when you’re going for a monochrome look, use colors that work best with your skin tone. This is especially important if you’re going for a nude look. You can find my tips for finding your perfect makeup colors here.
Mix & Layer
Don’t be afraid to mix and layer to get the right color for you. For lips, you can combine two of your favorite shades for a custom blend. When it comes to blush, try layering a pop of a brighter color over your everyday blush or bronzer to create your monochrome look.
Use Accessories
Incorporate your outfit into the look. I love adding an accessory that matches and enhances the makeup, like a cool pair of earrings or a necklace.
