Bobbi's Best Eyeliner Tips

Understanding and mastering eyeliner is a skill well worth learning. It’s the ultimate tool in making your eyes stand out. And don’t be afraid of it even if you are someone that likes a very hardly there look — just lining your top lash line (depending on your eye shape) can really make your eyes pop.
I’m a simple eyeliner kind of girl and I pretty much stick to deep browns and blacks. In terms of formula, I suggest learning how to use a single, dense brown eyeshadow as liner. I love it because it can also be used for so many things: a shadow, for filling in brows or your hairline and even on the lips (though I don’t recommend that for everyday). It’s one of my makeup kit essentials.
Here is my basic shadow liner how-to:
-
Start at the outside of your eye on the upper lash line. Follow the base of the lashes working your way towards your nose.
-
When you finish, close the eye you’re working on and fill in any spots where your lid shows through.
-
If you want a more pronounced line, go back over your line with more shadow or layer on a thick black line (using a gel liner) on top of the brown shadow.
-
If you want to keep the line soft, use your finger or a brush to smudge it.
-
When you’re happy with how it looks on top, decide if you want to create a line or a smudge with shadow along the lower lash line. This is all about your personal style and how strong you want the look. A smuged will keep the look soft, which works for day or night. A line will give you stronger definition and really make the eyes pop.
