Clean Market: NYC's Newest Wellness Destination
Written by: Alexandra Perron, Managing Editor
New York City’s newest wellness destination is all about feeling better, eating better and living better. Created by Lily Kunin, a plant-based chef and holistic health coach with a background in functional medicine, Clean Market offers a range of wellness products and services all conveniently housed under one roof. “I wanted it to be an oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the city,” says Kunin. Located between an Equinox and a SoulCycle in midtown Manhattan, Clean Market is exactly that.
The space includes infrared saunas, cryotherapy, a vitamin IV lounge from NutriDrip and a functional café in additional to an expertly curated retail space. “Infrared, cryo and IV drops are all services I’ve experienced benefits from and they are synergistic to each other,” Kunin says of the combination. “The beauty of is is that you can make your own experience when you come in.” Get a 10-minute cryofacial while during your IV drip, or try a vitamin booster shot before sweating it out in the infrared sauna. If you’re not up for choosing your own adventure, the team at Clean Market can help you curate a package of services based on your needs, whether that’s a glowing complexion or a midweek energy boost.
The beauty of Clean Market is that you can pop in just to take advantage of the retail offerings. All of the products for sale are carefully vetted and map back to a pillar of functional medicine. “I want people to feel that they can come in and trust every single product that we have in the store. We vetted it for them, we tried it and it works,” says Kunin of the product mix that includes skincare from True Botanicals, CBD tinctures from Lord Jones, coconut butter from CAP Beauty and adaptogens from Sun Potion. “Everything we present on the shelf is something we believe in.”
For those who have had trouble navigating the crowded and unregulated world of supplements, Clean Market’s medical-grade offering takes out a lot of the guesswork. These supplements are not traditionally available at retail, but Clean Market is able to sell them since they have a doctor on-staff through NutriDrip. “All the products have to meet a certain quality standard. We also want the brands we carry to have the same brand values,” she says.
In creating the menu for the functional café, Kunin looked to how she was eating and cooking at home. Everything available in the grab-and-go fridge is gluten free, dairy free, organic and void of refined sugars. There are also functional lattes created in partnership with Moonjuice, basic coffees and teas, smoothies and smoothie bowls and a power shot bar. The menu is designed with purpose and function in mind while still feeling approachable. You can order a matcha made with Beauty Dust and pearl or a strawberry banana smoothie with the added benefits of goji berries, grass fed collagen and tocos.
“I want people to come in to Clean Market and walk out feeling better then when they came in,” says Kunin. Whether you just pop in for a smoothie and supplements or stay for a few hours and try every service, you're guaranteed to leave feeling like a different (and healthier) person.
