How To Even Out Skin Tone Without A Traditional Foundation

Having great skin makes your makeup look so much better, but it can sometimes feel out of reach. Often we are taught to cover up skin concerns with foundation or concealer, which can actually make the problem worse. If you want to even out your skin tone while covering any problem areas, keep reading for my top lifestyle and beauty tips.

1. Eat Healthy And Drink Plenty Of Water

Great skin starts with healthy habits and taking care of yourself. A good skincare routine can only do so much if you aren't taking care of what you're putting into your body.

Eat healthy, avoid foods that make you break out, and drink lots of water.

2. Moisturize Your Skin Daily

If your skin is looking and feeling dull, it is likely dehydrated and could use some moisturizer to refresh your complexion. Moisturizer is the one product that should be used daily, by almost everybody.

Dry skin can result from weather, humidity, and regular skin texture changes as you age. If your skin is feeling particularly parched, apply a thick layer of moisturizer as an overnight mask. Your face will look refreshed in the morning.

3. Ditch Traditional Heavy Foundation And Cakey Makeup

Traditional foundations often feel too thick and can settle into fine lines or wrinkles, making skin look older and drier. If your skin is on the drier side or tends to look dull, heavier foundations can emphasize those areas, leaving a matte, lifeless finish.

And for those with wrinkles, it’s all too common for these products to sink in, drawing more attention to what you’d rather minimize.

Instead, I recommend opting for lighter, more moisturizing products that enhance your natural skin rather than masking it.

4.Embrace Your Features And Don't Cover Up

I don't believe that makeup should be used to cover up. I don't believe in contouring to change the shape of your face, and I don't like full coverage foundation that tries to cover up.

We all have beauty within us, so I like to use makeup to accentuate our best features and just provide some "support" where it can help without trying to mask or contour.

It's as much about confidence and feeling good in your skin as it is about how you look.

I love a glow on a fresh look that makes you feel confident. I don't think anyone feels or looks their best with flat makeup that strips the glow and sinks into wrinkles.

This is what makeup is all about: enhancing your features, not hiding them so you not only like how you look, but I want you to love how you feel.

Don't settle for makeup that doesn't have you feeling your most confident or dries down your skin. Makeup should help you to feel your best and should be good for you.
