You can wear sparkle or glitter for an everyday look – it just has to be strategically applied and color carefully chosen. For this look, I placed the sparkle on the inside corner of the eyes, added a few swipes of really black mascara, black liner, and did a messy bun keeps the look feeling casual. I also added a simple gloss on the lip – no need to overdo it with sparkle in multiple places.
The difference between frost, sparkle, and shimmers is the juxtaposition of the base and the pigment, and how big or small the particles are. They can be opalescent, pure white, gold, etc. Focus in on one area for the best effect – especially during the day. Here’s how to apply sparkle on eyes, lips and cheeks:
On the eyes:
Light colors open up the eyes and keep reflections targeted. For day, keep it on the inner eyelid and maybe a bit on the inner corner. For night, use it on the brow bone. Nude sparkle is awesome on the lid, but make it your skin tone nude.
On cheeks:
I love it over blush, high on the cheekbone. You can mix it with a bit of balmy moisturizer for a perfect glow effect. Cream formulas and sheer powders are the best.
On the lips:
Keep the shimmer transparent so that you do not end up with 1960s frosted look. Make sure the color isn’t too white or it will come off ashy and not be a pretty color. (Theatrical makeup artists use ashy lips to make actors look sickly on stage, so it’s best to stay away from the shade.)
