5 Simple (& Effective) Anti-Aging Tips

Written by: Dr. Amy Shah

Who wants real anti-aging tips instead of risky or worthless serums, injections, and surgery? Here are a few anti-aging tips and tricks that you can incorporate into your daily health and wellness routines. These tips are easy to replicate, not to mention, very cost-effective. Your friends will wonder if you are aging in reverse and you’ll enjoy huge benefits without pills or surgery!

Daily Movement

Exercise that promotes anti-aging is not centered around difficult exercise that pushes your body to extremes. Think about a cyclical pattern that requires more rigorous exercise three times a week in combination with lighter exercise (such as yoga, swimming, and walking) three times a week. Also, pay attention to your hormones. Rest your body the week before beginning your period by engaging in gentle exercise.

Have an Afternoon Tea

Tea is one of the most anti-inflammatory foods on the planet, not to mention it is inexpensive and readily available! Caffeine in small amounts is quite anti-inflammatory and anti-aging itself and works really well in combination with the high levels of antioxidants found in tea. Look for tea with minimal processing to get the most antioxidant effect.

Soak Up The Sun

Get a dose of sunshine before 10AM! In fact, sync your sleep and wake cycles with the earth’s natural patterns. You’ll notice how much more energy you have if you sleep earlier, wake up earlier, and get outside after your morning coffee. Syncing your circadian rhythms helps you live longer and look younger.

Spice Things Up

Find ways to incorporate turmeric, ginger, pepper, garlic, and cinnamon into your daily diet — don’t reserve these amazing anti-inflammatory spices for special meals. These spices are amazing for anti-aging because of their anti-inflammatory and/or antioxidant qualities. Try cinnamon or turmeric in your next green juice!

Try Intermittent Fasting

Intermittent fasting helps to downregulate or suppress certain cellular pathways (like mTor and IGF-1) and lower insulin levels that promote growth and aging. When we fast for 12-16 hours a few days a week, we promote anti-aging processes through cellular cleanup and gut rest. We also reduce insulin, which is great for people who are at risk for diabetes, but also for those who are trying to lose weight or have a hormonal imbalance.
